Object history
Deutsch: Das Dorf Wehr gehörte seit der Gründung des Klosters Steinfeld-Eifel um das Jahr 1069 bis 1073 zu dieser späteren Prämonstratenser-Abtei; zur Säkularisation um das Jahr 1800. Der Abt von Steinfeld war 900 Jahre lang "Land- und Lehnherr" zu Wehr, er übte die höhre und niedere Gerichtsbarkeit über das Dorf aus. Viermal fand im Jahr in Wehr das Schöffengericht statt. Die Lilien un der Stern sind dem Wappen der Abtei Steinfeld entnommen. Der Abtstab und das Schwert erinnern, daran, dass der Abt von Steinfeld auch die weltliche Herrschaft und Gerichtsbarkeit ausübte. Seit vielen Jahrhunderten sund die gekreuzten Pfeile das Wappenzeichen der Gemeinde Wehr. Sie sind die Symbole des Heiligen Potentinus, des Patrons der Wehrer Pfarrkirche.
